Oversize tennis racquets — frames with 105 sq in heads or larger, built for forgiveness, easy power, and effortless ball-striking. Sturdy Racquets stocks the full Australian range of oversize tennis racquets suiting beginners, seniors, and any player who wants the largest possible sweet spot for confident play.

Why choose an oversize tennis racquet?

Oversize racquets (105+ sq in) deliver the most generous sweet spot in tennis — making off-centre hits feel solid, increasing depth on full swings, and reducing the technique demands that smaller frames require. They suit recreational players, returning players who haven't played in years, and seniors who want to stay competitive with less effort. Many modern oversize frames are also lightweight, compounding the ease-of-use benefit.

Oversize options across every brand

Our range covers all the major oversize options. Popular picks include the Wilson Ultra Power 103 and Ultra Power Rxt 105, the Babolat Boost Drive (105 sq in) and Evoke 105, the Yonex Ezone 110 for maximum forgiveness, the Dunlop LX800 (110) and CX200 OS, and the Wilson PRO Staff Precision Rxt 105. The Tecnifibre Fire 260 OS rounds out the range as a lightweight oversize option.

Choosing the right oversize racquet

The two big decisions: weight and string pattern. Lighter oversize frames (240–280g) are the easiest to swing — best for absolute beginners and seniors. Heavier oversize frames (290g+) deliver more stability for stronger players who want a forgiving head with serious depth. See our lightweight range for ultra-light oversize options, or our beginner tennis racquets collection for first-frame guidance.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is considered an oversize tennis racquet?
Oversize racquets are 105 sq in or larger. The most common sizes are 105, 107, 110, and 115 sq in. Anything below 105 sq in is technically "mid-plus" or smaller. The largest commercially available frames reach 135 sq in.

Who benefits most from an oversize racquet?
Beginners learning the game, seniors wanting to keep playing comfortably, players returning after time off, and recreational players who don't generate fast swing speeds. The larger sweet spot is forgiving on technique inconsistency and reduces frustration on mishits.

Will I outgrow an oversize racquet as I improve?
Most players who progress from beginner to intermediate eventually move to a 100 sq in frame for more control. But many recreational players stay with oversize frames for life because they prioritise ease and forgiveness over precision. Both choices are valid.

Are oversize racquets less powerful?
Actually the opposite — oversize racquets typically generate MORE power than smaller frames because the larger string bed flexes more on impact and the frame leverage is greater. This is why some older players upgrade to oversize when they want more depth without swinging harder.

What strings work best in oversize racquets?
Multifilament or synthetic gut strings are usually recommended — they pair well with the powerful oversize frame and deliver the comfort recreational players appreciate. Avoid stiff polyester strings unless you're a strong swing-speed player. See our multifilament and synthetic gut ranges.
