The Wilson Blade 100 v10 is the forgiving Blade. It keeps the feel and control the Blade is known for and adds a 100 square inch head, which makes it the Blade most intermediate players should buy. This review tells you who it suits, what changed from the v9, how it compares with the Blade 98, the Blade 100L, the Ultra 100 and the Clash 100, and how we string it. You can see the Blade 100 v10 on our product page at any time, with today's price.

The short answer
Buy the Blade 100 v10 if you want a control racquet with feel but you are not ready, or do not want, the smaller head of the Blade 98. It costs $399.99 unstrung, which is $20 less than the 98. It suits intermediate to advanced players who like to feel the ball and place it. If you want free power, the Ultra 100 is the better Wilson. If you want maximum comfort, the Clash 100 is.

Good for you if
- You like the Blade feel but want a bigger sweet spot than the 98 gives.
- You are an intermediate player moving up from a lighter or stiffer frame.
- You hit with topspin and want control to go with it.
- You play singles and doubles and want one racquet for both.
- You want a step toward the Blade 98 without committing to it yet.
Skip it if
- You are a complete beginner. It is a 300 gram frame that rewards good contact.
- You want free power. The Blade gives back what you put in; the Ultra 100 adds to it.
- You want the softest possible frame. The Clash 100 at about 60 RA is softer.
- You find 300 grams tiring. The Blade 100L is 15 grams lighter.
What changed from the v9 to the v10
Here are the numbers from both racquets side by side. Three things changed: balance, stiffness and the colour.
| Blade 100 v9 (2024) | Blade 100 v10 (2026) | |
|---|---|---|
| Unstrung weight | 300 g | 300 g |
| Swing weight | about 320 | about 320 |
| Balance | 4 points head light | Even balance |
| Stiffness | about 60 RA | about 62 RA |
| Head size | 100 square inches | 100 square inches |
| Beam | 22 mm | 22 mm |
| String pattern | 16 x 19 | 16 x 19 |
| Our price | $295.95 (previous model) | $399.99 |

The even balance of the v10 puts a little more weight in the head, which makes it steadier when you hit hard and slightly slower to turn at the net. Two points of stiffness make the response a touch crisper. If you have a v9 and like it, there is no need to change. If you are buying new, the v10 is the current model and the v9 is a good buy at its lower price while we have it.
Blade 100 or Blade 98
The 98 is the Blade most people picture. The 100 is the one more people should actually buy.
| Blade 100 v10 | Blade 98 v10 | |
|---|---|---|
| Head size | 100 square inches | 98 square inches |
| Unstrung weight | 300 g | 305 g |
| Swing weight | about 320 | about 328 |
| Beam | 22 mm | 21 mm |
| Stiffness | about 62 RA | about 61 RA |
| Our control rating | 9 | 9 |
| Our spin rating | 8.5 | 9 |
| Rating on our site | 4.7 (55 reviews) | 5.0 (64 reviews) |
| Our price | $399.99 | $419.99 |

Pick the 100 for forgiveness and a slightly quicker swing. Pick the 98 if your contact is clean and you want the ball to go exactly where you aim; our Blade 98 v10 review covers it in full.
The lighter Blades
If 300 grams is more than you want, the Blade 100 comes in three lighter versions with the same head.
| Blade 100 | 100L | 100UL | 101 Team | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Unstrung weight | 300 g | 285 g | 265 g | 275 g |
| Swing weight | about 320 | about 310 | about 295 | about 305 |
| Balance | Even | 1 pt head light | 2 pts head heavy | 1 pt head heavy |
| Stiffness | about 62 RA | about 62 RA | about 63 RA | about 64 RA |
| Sold | Unstrung | Unstrung | Unstrung | Strung |
| Rating on our site | 4.7 (55) | 4.9 (12) | 4.8 (60) | 4.6 (69) |
| Our price | $399.99 | $369.99 | $369.99 | $239.99 |

The 100L is the one most people who want a lighter Blade should buy. The 100UL is for players who need the lightest swing. The 101 Team comes strung and is the cheapest way into the Blade range.
Blade 100 or Ultra 100
Both are 300 gram, 100 square inch Wilsons at a similar price. They are built for different players.
| Blade 100 v10 | Ultra 100 v5 | |
|---|---|---|
| Stiffness | about 62 RA | about 72 RA |
| Beam | 22 mm | 24, 26.5 and 24 mm |
| Our control rating | 9 | 7 |
| Our power rating | 8 | 9 |
| Our comfort rating | 8 | 7.8 |
| Rating on our site | 4.7 (55 reviews) | 4.6 (39 reviews) |
| Our price | $399.99 | $339.95 |

The Blade is for placing the ball. The Ultra is for hitting it hard with help from the frame; our Ultra 100 v5 review covers it. The Clash 100 sits on the other side of the Blade: softer again, and the comfort choice, as our Clash 100 review explains.
How it plays

From the baseline. This is the Blade feel with a safety margin. The ball sits on the strings, topspin is easy through the 16x19 pattern, and the 100 square inch head keeps off-centre hits in play.
Power. We rate it 8. There is a little more free depth than from the 98 thanks to the bigger head and the 22 millimetre beam, but it is still a racquet that gives back what you put in.
At the net. Quicker than the 98 and steady enough on volleys. The even balance keeps the head stable.
Comfort. We rate it 8. At about 62 RA it is on the softer side of modern frames. A soft polyester or a hybrid keeps it comfortable.
