Wilson Clash 100 v3 review: the comfort racquet, and Clash 100 versus 100L, 100 Pro, Ultra 100 and Blade 100

By Sturdy Racquets, Brooklyn VIC Updated 13 October 2026 7 minute read

The Wilson Clash 100 v3 is the standard model of the most comfortable racquet range we sell. It is a modern 100 square inch frame that bends more than any rival, so it is easy on the arm and easy to play with. This review tells you who it suits, how it compares with the Clash 100L, the Clash 100 Pro, the Ultra 100 and the Blade 100, and how we string it. You can see the Clash 100 v3 on our product page at any time, with today's price.

The short answer

Buy the Clash 100 v3 if you want the most comfortable 100 square inch racquet on the market and you are an intermediate player, or a beginner who wants one racquet for years. It costs $349.95. It is softer than anything from Babolat or Yonex and it gives easy depth without a big swing. If you already hit very hard and want crisp feedback, the Blade 100 is the better Wilson for you.

Who it suits, and who should skip it

Good for you if

  • You want comfort first. This is the softest frame we sell.
  • You are an intermediate club player who wants easy depth and a forgiving sweet spot.
  • You play against people who hit hard and want a frame that does not get pushed around. The 295 grams helps.
  • You hit with topspin. The 16x19 pattern and the flexible frame make the ball dip.
  • You have had elbow or shoulder pain with a stiffer racquet.

Skip it if

  • You want crisp, direct feedback. The Clash feels soft by design; the Blade 100 is firmer.
  • You hit very flat and very hard. The Clash 100 Pro with its 16x20 pattern is the better Clash.
  • You want the lightest possible swing. The Clash 100L or 100UL are the lighter versions.
  • You want a control racquet for competitive singles. Look at a 98 square inch frame instead.

Comfort. We rate it 10 out of 10. The frame flexes more than any other modern racquet, which takes the sting out of every hit. This is the reason the Clash exists.

From the baseline. The ball sits on the strings a little longer and leaves with easy depth. The 100 square inch head is forgiving, and topspin comes easily.

Against pace. At 295 grams it holds its line better than the lighter Clash models. Very hard hitters may still want the 100 Pro.

Feel. Soft and muted. Players coming from a stiff frame notice the difference in the first ten minutes, and most of them like it.

The 100L is the one to take if 295 grams feels like a lot, and we have a full Clash 100L review. The 100 Pro is for strong players who want more mass and a flatter ball. The standard Clash 100 is the right choice for most intermediate players.

Clash 100 or Ultra 100

Both are Wilson's 100 square inch racquets for club players, and they are built for different feelings. The Ultra 100 v5 is the power racquet. The Clash is the comfort racquet.

Clash 100 or Blade 100

The Blade 100 v10 is the control-minded Wilson 100. It is firmer and more precise than the Clash.

How we string it

On a frame this flexible the string matters more than usual. When you buy the racquet from us, stringing is added at the discounted prices below and it is usually ready the next day.

Most players and sore arms: Premium, $39.95 with the racquet. Tecnifibre Multifeel at 50 pounds, or a soft polyester such as Babolat RPM Team at 50 to 52 pounds.

Spin and control: Ultra Premium, $49.95 with the racquet. Solinco Hyper-G or Babolat RPM Blast at 50 to 52 pounds for a player whose swing has sped up.

Budget: Standard, $19.95 with the racquet. Wilson Sensation or Babolat Synthetic Gut at 50 pounds.

Your own string: $15.95 labour when you buy the racquet from us.

All four packages are explained on our racquet stringing page.

Questions players ask

Is the Wilson Clash 100 v3 good for beginners?
Yes, for an adult beginner who wants a racquet to grow into rather than replace in a year. It is forgiving and very comfortable. If 295 grams feels heavy in the shop, the Clash 100L at 280 grams is the same racquet with less to swing.
Is the Clash 100 v3 good for intermediate players?
Yes. This is the heart of its audience: club players who want comfort, easy depth and a modern 100 square inch frame that holds up against pace. It is the Clash most intermediate players should buy.
What is the difference between the Clash 100 and the Clash 100L?
Weight only. The 100 is 295 grams, the 100L is 280 grams. Everything else is the same. The 100 is steadier against hard hitters. The 100L is quicker. If your arm is sore or your swing is slow, take the L. Otherwise take the 100.
What changed from the Clash 100 v2 to the v3?
We only stock the v3, so we have not measured the two side by side and we will not guess at numbers. The v3 is the current 2025 model and its specifications are in the table on this page.
Is the Clash 100 v3 arm friendly?
Yes. It is the most flexible frame we sell at about 60 RA, and we rate its comfort 10 out of 10. With a multifilament or a soft polyester it is the first racquet we suggest to anyone with tennis elbow.
What string should I use on the Clash 100 v3?
Wilson lists 48 to 55 pounds, which is 22 to 25 kilograms. We suggest a multifilament such as Tecnifibre Multifeel at 50 pounds for comfort, or a soft polyester such as Babolat RPM Team at 50 to 52 pounds if you want more control.
Clash 100 or Clash 100 Pro?
The Clash 100 Pro weighs 305 grams, is balanced 9 points head light and has a denser 16x20 pattern. It is for strong players who want Clash comfort with more mass and a flatter ball. The standard 100 is lighter, spins more and suits more players.
