The Wilson Clash 100L v3 is the lighter version of the Clash 100, the most comfortable racquet in the Wilson range. It is the frame we hand to players who want a modern 100 square inch racquet that is easy on the arm and easy to swing. This review tells you who it suits, how it compares with the Clash 100, the Clash 100UL and the Clash 100 Pro, and how we string it. The short answer
Buy the Clash 100L v3 if you want a light, comfortable, modern racquet that you will not outgrow quickly. It costs $329.95 unstrung. It suits improving beginners and intermediate players, and it is our first suggestion for anyone with a sore elbow or shoulder. If you already hit with real pace, the heavier Clash 100 v3 or Clash 100 Pro will be steadier.

Good for you if
- You are an improving beginner or an intermediate player and want one racquet for the next few years.
- You have, or want to avoid, tennis elbow or shoulder pain. This is the softest frame we sell.
- You want a racquet that is quick to swing. At 280 grams it is easy to get around on a fast ball.
- You play a mix of singles and doubles and want one frame that does both.
- You hit with topspin and want the ball to dip. The 16x19 pattern helps.
Skip it if
- You already hit hard and flat. The soft frame can feel too lively, and the Clash 100 Pro is the better Clash for you.
- You want the crisp, direct feedback of a stiffer racquet. The Blade 100L suits that better.
- You are a complete beginner on a tight budget. The Clash 100UL is lighter again.
- You want a heavy, stable racquet for competitive singles.
How it plays

Comfort. This is the Clash's whole personality. The frame bends more than almost any other modern racquet, and that takes the shock out of contact. We rate it 10 out of 10 for comfort, and it is the frame we reach for when a customer mentions their elbow.
From the baseline. The ball sits on the strings a fraction longer, which gives easy depth and makes topspin simple. The 100 square inch head is forgiving on off-centre hits.
Against pace. At 280 grams it can get pushed around by very hard hitters. That is the trade for the light weight, and it is the reason the Clash 100 exists at 295 grams.
At the net. Quick and easy. The light weight and the head light balance make it simple to get the racquet into position.

Choose the 100L if you value quick swings and easy handling, or if your arm is sore. Choose the Clash 100 if you play against harder hitters and want the frame to hold its line. If you cannot decide, pick the 100L and add a little lead tape later if you want more stability. That is a cheap change. Making a heavy racquet lighter is not possible.

The 100UL is for players who need the lightest possible frame. The 100 Pro is for strong players who want Clash comfort with a denser 16x20 pattern and more mass. The 100L in the middle is the one most improving players should buy.
Clash 100L or Blade 100L
Both are light 100 square inch Wilsons at a similar price, so this comes up a lot.
| Clash 100L v3 | Blade 100L v10 | |

The Clash is softer, more forgiving and more powerful. The Blade 100L is firmer and more precise. If comfort matters most, buy the Clash. If you want to feel exactly where the ball is going, buy the Blade.
How we string it
The Clash 100L is sold unstrung. The string makes a big difference on a frame this flexible, so it is worth choosing with care. When you buy the racquet from us, stringing is added at the discounted prices below and it is usually ready the next day.
Most players and sore arms: Premium, $39.95 with the racquet. Tecnifibre Multifeel or a soft polyester such as Babolat RPM Team at 50 pounds. Comfort first, with enough control to keep the ball in.
Spin and control: Ultra Premium, $49.95 with the racquet. Solinco Hyper-G or Babolat RPM Blast at 50 to 52 pounds, for a player whose swing has sped up.
Budget: Standard, $19.95 with the racquet. Wilson Sensation or Babolat Synthetic Gut at 50 pounds. Soft and lively.
Your own string: $15.95 labour when you buy the racquet from us.
All four packages are explained on our racquet stringing page.
